Green Green Grass of Home(고향의 푸른 잔디)

 

The old hometown looks the same  (고향 마을은 달라진 게 없네요)

                                                          As I step down from the train  (열차에서 내려서며 보니)

                                       And there to meet me is my Mama and Papa  (어머니와 아버지께서 마중 나와 계시네요)

                                         Down the road I look and there runs Mary  (길 저 편에서 메리가 달려오는 게 보이고)

                                               Hair of gold and lips like cherries  (금발 머리, 앵두 같은 입술의 메리와)

                                 It's good to touch the green, green grass of home  (고향의 푸른 잔디를 어루만지니 좋네요)

                                               Yes, they'll all come to meet me  (그래요, 모두 날 만나러 올 거에요)

                                                Arms reaching, smiling sweetly  (팔을 내밀고, 다정히 웃음 지으며)
                               It's good to touch the green, green grass of home  (고향의 푸른 잔디를 어루만지니 좋네요)

 
                                                  The old house is still standing  (옛 집이 여전히 서 있네요)

                                             Though the paint is cracked and dry  (비록 칠은 갈라지고 말랐지만)
                         And there's that old oak tree that I used to play on  (내가 올라가 놀던 늙은 떡갈나무가 그대로 있네요)

 

                                     Down the lane I walk with my sweet Mary  (길을 따라 내 사랑 메리와 함께 걸어가죠)

                                            Hair of gold and lips like cherries  (금발 머리, 앵두 같은 입술의 메리와)
                                It's good to touch the green, green grass of home  (고향의 푸른 잔디를 어루만지니 좋네요)

 

 

                                            Then I awake and look around me  (그리고 난 깨어나 주변을 둘러보죠)

                                           At four grey walls that surround me  (사방에 회색 벽이 둘러싸고 있네요)
                                 And I realize, yes, I was only dreaming  (난 깨달았죠, 그래요, 단지 꿈을 꿨다는 사실을)

                     For there's a guard and there's a sad old padre (간수가 있고 나이 많은 신부가 슬픈 얼굴로 서 있으니까요)

                                           On and on we'll walk at daybreak  (동이 틀 무렵 우린 계속 걸어가겠죠) 
                             Again I'll touch the green, green grass of home  (난 다시 고향의 푸른 잔디를 어루만질 거에요)

                                            Yes, they'll all come to see me  (그래요, 모두 날 만나러 올 거에요)

                                                In the shade of that old oak tree  (늙은 떡갈나무 그늘 아래)
                              As they lay me neath the green, green grass of home  (고향의 푸른 잔디 아래 날 묻어주겠죠)
